Early Days
The final plans for Woodledge at Whitford Hills were approved by the Township in October, 2006. These plans limited the amount of private property associated with each residence, requiring 60% of the site be permanently preserved as common open space. The first lots on Woodledge Lane were sold in February, 2007. The onsite Toll Brothers office was a trailer placed on the asphalt pad near Route 30 with access directly from Route 30.
Mid Construction
Once Woodledge Lane was laid out, the trailer office could be accessed from that street. When two of three lots in a building were sold, construction on the building would begin. The plan was to build homes on Woodledge Lane first, with all initial construction focused on the building that would provide the builder’s office and Model Home. The first residents moved into their new homes in October, 2007. Lots on Downing Court were offered for sale starting at the top of the street, then continuing down to the end of the court.
Moving in
Moving into your new home on Woodledge Lane meant several years of daily construction noise and traffic as building on Downing Court continued. Tractors, trucks, and workmen were the rule of the day. Open windows brought blaring radio music, jackhammer blasts and buzzing saw noises into the house. Eventual landscaping provided welcome relief from endless dust and mud. Residents were excited to see new owners move in. One exception was the fox who trotted down Downing Court each evening, checking the doorless garages for lunch scraps left behind by the workers. His ‘free lunch’ program came to an end. The final home sales were completed in 2011 when Toll Brothers moved out of their office and the model home was converted into a residence.
